Loving Kindness

My experience doing the loving kindness activity was rather rejuvenating .  Listening to the waves and the soothing voice of the author helped me focus on the task at hand.  We had some bad thunderstorms roll through here last night and waking up to power was a wonderful thing that I was able to start my day off doing this exercise and able to put myself at ease for the rest of the day.   To be able to start this on a daily basis, just like praying daily, would be a benefit to many people once they attempt this more then once.  You just have to be willing and the rest will follow.
I work out physically 5 days a week from the gym, walking or running depending on my schedule and of course the weather. on the other days I make sure their is activity but not a structured one.  This didn't come easy but over time and the feeling that I sustained about myself and confidence level that I now have, makes me go to the gym.  Its no longer a chore.  With a mental workout, this is the same thing.  One must start out slow and challenge yourself daily to evolve our psychospirtual life.  If we can just start out with closing our eyes and releasing and then work up to meditation 15 minutes a day, this will also improve us to get to our ultimate goal of 1 hour daily. Starting with Dacher's loving -kindness audio is the way to start your day and develop and move on from here just like when I began training for my first 5K, that certainly didn't come overnight, it was a combination of walking and running and then eventually running the entire time.
I think many people fail in trying to accomplish both physical and mental work outs, because they take to big a chunk out of how to get there.  Its like you want to be there now, but don't want to work and make the effort to get there.  Take each day daily and strive to improve in all aspects of your life and we will see in just a short amount of time, how many steps we have taken and how much better we feel. When we gain access and a better understanding of our inner being, we have more compassion and are more at peace with the situations in our lives.
Have a great weekend everyone and stay safe out there:).

Crime of the century- or is it?

Ok, so as I sit here reading about our assignment this week and finishing up the "Crime of the Century" reflection, I found that it made me rather tired.  Listening to all the colors and looking out the window, I could visualize it all, but I guess its just a Friday and thats how I feel.  I do feel calm and at ease even though the thunderstorms are now moving through our area so we will go from very hot to comfortable weather now.  I just didn't get why it was called "crime of the century"  Anyone have an idea?
Anyway, a review of how I feel and what I need to accomplish.  Well, physically I would put this at a 5.  Normally I would be higher, but had some surgery last week so I am not up to my norm which I would give myself an 8.  Can always improve and I am always working on my diet and physical abilities through exercise and challenging my body.  I just love to challenge myself and want to do a mud run by the fall.  Not sure where or how long, but I want to get muddy- LOL
I would rate my psychologically at a 7.  I feel comfortable with myself but I do need to work on changing and improving my mind both through learning and through better patience with others and not judging.  I have come a long way from my experiences in life with this, but need more work.  I also would like to work on "training my mind" to get better in my running times.  I don't want to just run because I should but rather because I want to improve myself not only physically but mentality.  I still don't understand how people enjoy running a half marathon or full marathon and don't think anything about it.  Me, every minute I'm thinking about and I need to change that and refocus.
My spirituality I think is at a 3.  I do believe in god and believe that I have past family members watching over my family and I.  I also believe that "things happen for a reason" and god does have a huge roll in this.  Taking care of patients when they are at their worst and saving them from dyeing from a car accident to cardiac arrest, I am very humbled by what happens, but don't know how to apply it yet.  I will work on this through this class and figuring out what "spirituality" truly means to me. How I will do this, I'm not really sure just yet.
Thanks everyone- Chat soon
Stay safe out there......

Ok, so I attempted to do my Journey to relaxation tonight.  My home is quiet with my husband and son working and my other son staying at a friends house.  Wow, what more could I ask for regrading peace- LOL.   I started the audio, but just couldn't get comfortable.  I just had surgery on my legs on tuesday, so sitting is difficult and only feel most relaxed in a recliner.  So thats where my computer then went with me, but no help with the itchiness of the incisions or the pain that I am currently feeling.  It was very difficult for me to tune it all out.  I will say though that I have tried in the past audio tapes like this to lose weight and have always enjoyed the peaceful sounds in the background like i hear when I get a massage.  I will have to try this journey later during the semester. Sorry folks.
